Хотя язык Java имеет собственный оконный графический интерфейс, использование Windows GUI может оказаться полезным и в программах на этом языке.

Проблема связи Java-программ с WSO состоит в том, что Java непосредственно не поддерживает доступ к COM-серверам. Мы используем для обеспечения этой связи пакет Jacob (автор Dan Adler, см. http://danadler.com/jacob/),в тексте которого исправлены несколько ошибок. Пакет состоит из двух файлов: jacob.jar и jacob.dll.

Доступ к WSO производится на нижнем уровне через статические методы класса Dispatch, при этом автору приходится самостоятельно оформлять все параметры функций как переменные типа Variant. Обработка событий также описывается на базовом уровне, в виде статических классов, содержащих обработчики событий для конкретных объектов.
